Today Room 1 and Room 2 had a session with the Origin hip hop crew. They taught us some hip hop moves that rocked. I think I can speak for all of the two classes that the dance they did was long but awesome!!!
My favourite part was all the cool end poses - they looked nice and effective. But  the bit that stood out the most was that everyone tried their best and I think I can say that everyone succeeded.
It was fun preforming. I liked how the hip hop teachers from Origin were open to new dance moves for the little dance that we all did in small groups. By Isaac B

Room 1 Waimea College Chemistry Demo

Decked out with lab coats and safety glasses.

On Friday 29th of November Room 1 went to Waimea College for a chemistry demo.
We mixed different chemicals to create different colours in test tubes.
We put ... in carbon ... and it fizzed up.
They did a demonstration and we had to sit back at a group of desks for safety purposes - in that demonstration they made a egg explode and made a balloon go up in a ball of fire.
It was great afternoon and lots of fun learning.

Our Shared Book

This term we have been reading 'The Last Tuatara' by Des Hunt. This is fantastic  adventure/mystery book set in New Zealand, where the survival of the tuatara is at risk. With problems just as spray poisoning, climate change and the dangerous smugglers  we were kept on the edge of our seats. It is well written with some graphic descriptions - an adrenaline pumping read set in our wonderful natural world.

We realised that Mrs Hall's daughter works on an island where they are working to keep the tuatara alive and to ensure that they don't become extinct just like it said at the end of the book. Her website is: www.alpinedaisy.wordpress.com
Have a look and see the wonderful photos of the tuataras she is looking after especially the baby one smaller than the clogs.
